How Do you Know if Your Marriage is Over?

Have you uncoupled from your spouse? Are you doing everything as separate individuals? When was the last time you sat down and had a conversation with your mate? If you don’t seem to have any relationship with your mate any more  – you just haven’t gone through the divorce yet.

  1. Does every situation, no matter how trivial, devolve into a fight? That could be a big sign that there’s trouble in paradise and your relationship could be coming to an end.
  2. Are you married to a “Money Moron?” Save yourself years of aggravation. If your partner isn’t willing to do the right thing financially so that you feel safe, maybe your partner doesn’t love you as much as you love them.
  3. Is physical intimacy missing? If you’ve stopped having sex with your mate, it could be that you no longer want to be married to them.
  4. Does your partner even try? If your partner won’t go for counselling, won’t even sit down and have a discussion with you about what’s wrong in your relationship, or make changes based on your feedback – if your partner won’t even try, that could be a red flag that says “it’s time to move on.”
  5. Is your trust broken? If there’s been an affair, if your mate is a gambler, if your mate is a drug abuser or an abuser of alcohol, those are all indications of broken trust. And it can be very difficult to get over that level of broken trust.

We come into relationships (usually) on the same page. Over time, our feelings can shift and change. If you and your mate no longer feel the same way morally, ethically or even about your lifestyle, then it may be time to note that you are walking different paths. As individuals, you may need to do it separately.
